Age & ID verification
Where you sell age-restricted goods, SalesPoint360 prompts at the till and keeps a record you can produce later.
Marking products
Set a product as age restricted with its minimum age. Any sale containing it prompts the cashier before it can be completed โ so the check does not depend on someone remembering which lines are restricted.
At the register
The cashier is prompted to check identification and confirm. That confirmation is a cashier attestation: SalesPoint360 records that a named person checked at a given time, which is what an audit or a test purchase asks for.
It records the check; it does not perform it. Your training and your policy still do the work.
Unattended sales
At a kiosk there is nobody to attest, so restricted items are hard-blocked and must be completed with a staff member. Treat that as a feature rather than an obstacle.
The log
Restaurant & Appointments โ ID Verification keeps every check with the sale, the product, the staff member and the timestamp. Because it is tied to the transaction, a specific sale can always be traced back to who approved it.
Using it well
- Set the minimum age from your jurisdiction's rules, not the product's packaging.
- Apply a challenge policy โ asking anyone who looks under 25 for a 18+ product is standard practice in many markets.
- Review the log periodically; a cashier who never records a challenge on a restricted line is worth a conversation.
- Never share logins, or the log records the wrong person.
