Securing your account: passwords, PINs & 2FA
On this page
Your SalesPoint360 account holds your sales, your customers, and your payment configuration. A few minutes of setup makes it substantially harder to compromise.
Passwords and PINs
Every user has a password for the admin portal and, optionally, a short PIN for fast switching between staff on a shared register. They are different credentials for different risks: the password unlocks the back office, the PIN only unlocks the till.
Change either under My Profile. Changing a password signs out other sessions, so an old device cannot keep working with a stale token.
Turn on two-factor authentication
Under My Profile, enable 2FA. Scan the QR code with any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password), then confirm with the six-digit code. From then on sign-in asks for a code as well as your password.
Store your recovery details somewhere safe before you leave the page โ losing the authenticator without them means asking support to reset it.
Requiring 2FA for everyone
Business owners can require 2FA for every administrator on the account. Admin users without it are sent to their profile with a warning banner until they complete setup.
Least privilege for staff
Give each person their own login โ shared accounts make the activity log useless. Then use roles to grant only what the job needs. A cashier rarely needs to void sales, edit prices, or view reports; a stock clerk does not need the payment settings.
Watch the activity log
Settings โ Activity Log records who did what, when, and from which address โ logins, price changes, refunds, voids, and settings updates. Anomaly detection additionally flags unusual transaction patterns and produces per-cashier risk scores.
When someone leaves
Deactivate the user rather than reusing the login. Their history stays intact and attributed, their sessions end, and their PIN stops working on every register.
Note: your business can rename menu items (Settings โ POS Configuration โ Menu Labels), so the names in your menu may differ from those shown here.
