Restaurant mode: tables, modifiers & the kitchen display
On this page
Restaurant mode turns the register into a table-service till: a floor plan, orders held against tables, modifiers, and a kitchen display. Enable it per store under Settings โ Stores.
Areas and tables
Under Restaurant & Appointments โ Tables & KDS, create areas (Indoor, Patio, Bar) and add tables with a capacity and a shape. The floor plan editor lets you drag tables into position and add walls, fixtures, and labels, so the on-screen layout matches the room.
Taking an order
Pick a table, add items, and send. The order stays open against the table so more rounds can be added. When the party leaves, take payment โ in full, or split by item, by seat, or into equal shares.
Modifiers
Modifier groups capture how an item is prepared: no onions, medium rare, extra shot. Each group can be required or optional with minimum and maximum selections, and each modifier can adjust the price. Attach groups to the products they apply to and the register prompts automatically. Modifiers work outside restaurant mode too, for any product that needs options.
The kitchen display
The KDS is a dark, auto-refreshing screen for the kitchen showing open tickets with their items, modifiers, and how long they have been waiting. Staff bump items as they are made and the ticket clears when complete.
Kitchen routing
With more than one station, routing rules send each item where it is actually made โ grill to the grill screen, drinks to the bar โ so nobody reads a whole ticket to find their part.
Reservations and waitlist
Take reservations against tables, manage a waitlist with position tracking, send SMS updates with an estimated wait, and record no-shows so the pattern is visible.
What to watch
Restaurant analytics covers table turnover, average preparation time from the KDS, and peak hours โ the three numbers that usually explain a slow service.
Note: your business can rename menu items (Settings โ POS Configuration โ Menu Labels), so the names in your menu may differ from those shown here.
